| Overview:
Today's Web traffic management
solutions are primarily focused on Web site optimization and Web
traffic coordination without identifying or limiting Web traffic.
This makes high performance products such as the integrated Array
Web Traffic Manager (Array 1000 and Array 500 series) the ideal
solution for traditional Web sites.
A.
Integrated Web Traffic Management
Until today traditional
architectures for high-traffic web sites consisted of multiple
pieces of hardware. Between the edge routers and web server farm,
it was and is not uncommon to find an expanding collection of
free-standing load balancers, firewalls, SSL accelerators, caching
devices, CDN servers for rewriting content, and more - purchased
from a number of different vendors. This hodge-podge of hardware
consumed prodigious amounts of not only your IT budget, but also
precious rack space and staff time - commodities that are always
in short supply. Efficient scaling options were practically
nonexistent. Interoperability and latency issues (as IP packets
were shuffled back and forth among boxes) were vexing. Further,
troubleshooting was made far more difficult by finger-pointing
among the various vendors.

| The
Array 1000 and Array 500 series are designed from the
ground up for integrated Web traffic management and
include seven essential networking functions into a single
streamlined system: Server Load Balancing, Caching, Global
Server Load Balancing, SSL Acceleration, Content Rewrite,
Webwall for Web security and Clustering technology. Using
Array's high-performance SpeedStack™ network packet
processing technology, requests traverse the Array's
TCP/IP networking stack only once for all functions
without requiring redundant TCP/HTTP processing for
individual functions. |
 |
This tightly coupled TCP/HTTP
request management reduces latency, improves the efficiency of
backend servers, and enables the all-in-one Array system to
integrate seven essential networking functions with performance
that surpasses other integrated devices and conventional point
solutions such as load balancers, content switches, caches, and
SSL accelerators. Array's integrated approach also ensures that
caching is fully functional for both HTTP and SSL traffic, which
is not possible if a customer has deployed point solutions without
making and investment in additional load balancers.
Array Networks' integrated platform
architecture is a leading example of an important trend in server
acceleration and traffic management in which platform
architectures capable of performing many functions in an
integrated and consistent fashion will start to displace
single-function, stand-alone appliances. Array not only provides
an integrated platform design, but also prices functions on an
as-needed basis, and opens the underlying ArrayOS API to
third-party developers. All of this provides an attractive vehicle
for building better composite solutions, keeping pace with the
growing importance of the Internet.

Array SP (Security Proxy) - Secure Web Traffic Management Platform
With the migration of applications
to the Web, employees (local and remote), vendors and strategic
partners of Enterprise organizations can now fully enjoy the
benefits of easy, remote access of corporate information. IDC for
example predicts that Web services will create a market of $1.6
billion in 2004 and $34 billion by 2007.
This access, however, cannot be
managed by current Web traffic management tools alone. After all,
while tools that are optimized for Web performance are powerful,
they do not effectively address Enterprise security needs.
Corporate information must be optimized for secure access that is
authenticated, authorized, and most importantly, audited.
Array Networks offers a new class
of Web traffic managers specifically designed with the needs of
the Enterprise in mind. Optimized for security, but understanding
the importance of performance, the Array SP enables corporate IT
managers to effectively deliver corporate information to only
those who have been authorized to receive it without requiring
complex and proprietary client-side software. Equally important,
the Array SP transparently handles the divide traditionally
associated with internal corporate networks and the Internet
through its Web Resource Technology.
Based on a security platform (Array
Security Proxy), Array's security hardened technology is the first
secure, end-to-end Web traffic management solution that allows for
non-disruptive network integration, user-friendly administration
and integrates proven Array technology such as ArrayOS™,
SpeedStack™, and Webwall technology.
Bringing trusted authentication,
authorization, accounting, Secure Socket Layer (SSL) and Web
Resource Mapping technology for the extended private network thus
reflecting the global move of security from edge-to-edge to an
end-to-end model, Array Networks offers the first secure Web
Traffic Manager in the industry.
